  • Women in Tech Sri Lanka ended the 'Rise with AI' workshop targeting school girls
  • The objective of the program was to educate girls about AI and spark an interest in tech-related fields
  • It was all about giving young females exposure to new-age technology

Women in Technology Sri Lanka (WIT) are part of the global Women in Technology movement. Recently, WIT hosted a workshop called "Rise with AI," which focused on presenting AI to young women. The goal of this workshop was to help them gain an interest in the technology field or pursue it further by providing them with exposure to AI.

WIT collaborated with Tiqri to create the program and make it more accessible to young women throughout Sri Lanka by offering activities that showcase the benefits of AI.

The participants would engage in hands-on activities within groups to learn about some of the basic concepts of AI through various group activities and group collaboration that promoted engagement, confidence and curiosity among all participants in a fun and welcoming environment.

According to Sanali Kaushalya, Director of Women in Technology Sri Lanka, early exposure to emerging technologies will help close the long-standing gap between men and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). It also gives girls a broader base of careers to choose from later.

The "Rise with AI" workshop emphasised the use of early STEM education as a means of closing the gap between men and women.
