During the 2026 Annual Conference of Business Women Hub Africa, the call was again made for women’s enterprise to enjoy better support systems, funding, and collaborations among themselves.
Held in Lagos, the 2026 Annual Conference came up under the theme “Balance to Scale: Empowered Women and Its Gain.” During the conference, industry experts discussed strategies to establish sustainable businesses based on shifting economic trends.
This annual conference also reflected the global emphasis on “Give to Gain” during the month-long International Women’s Month celebration.
According to remarks by the Special Guest of Honor, Princess Damilola Sonayon James, Assistant Women Leader of the APC in Lagos State, the role of women in economic empowerment is essential. She argued that giving more room to women in business would improve productivity and inclusion in the leadership process.
The conference discussions focused on the need to move from the informal and survivalist model of business into an expanded enterprise system with clear business model frameworks.
Stella Damasus, actress and advocate, highlighted the need for confidence and self-awareness in leadership and urged women to transcend negative self-images.
Toun Okewale Sonaiya, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Women Radio Nigeria, stated that empowerment is a purposeful activity associated with opportunity access, and that “Give to Gain” philosophy underscores the significance of teamwork and collective learning.
Yetunde Bankole-Bernard, who is the Director at Finchglow Holdings and CEO of YBB Company, presented an address on the significance of specialisation, delegation, and self-confidence in business expansion. Adedoja Allen, MD of City 105.1 FM, offered media leadership lessons through the principles of perseverance, creating value, and sustainability.
Other panelists facilitated workshops on leadership, visibility, wealth generation, and sustainability, providing valuable advice via interactive forums.
Among the topics raised was the perception of balance as a strategy in development, where speakers noted that sustainable progress involves planning, prioritisation, and organised implementation.
Imelda Usoro-Olaoye, Founder of Business Women Hub Africa emphasized during her speech that the organization has made a commitment to support young female entrepreneurs through training, financial assistance and access to markets. Since its inception in 2020, the Hub has impacted over 1200 women throughout Nigeria and internationally.
At the event, the Business Women Hub Grant was awarded and disbursed amongst 8 female owned businesses totaling ₦3.75 million. Judges were present to review the application packages of each business and choose successful applicants according to established criteria and future growth projections.
Additionally, there were 20 media slots given to members of the Hub through partnerships via Women FM 91.6 and City FM 105.1 stations.
The purpose of the conference appears to be to indicate the commitment of the organizers to incorporate advocacy and support programs in order to empower female entrepreneurs and develop sustainable businesses.
