Securing the 38th spot among 146 nations, Jamaica show strong performance in enhancing female representation in government, expanding opportunities for skilled employment, and strengthening ministerial inclusion. With top enrolment across all levels, Jamaica reinforces its dedication to inclusive education.
With 37.5% of Cabinet positions and 40% of Parliamentary seats held by women, Jamaica secures the 20th spot globally for women in ministerial roles. The nation also ranks 21st for female participation in professional and technical careers, underscoring a strong and expanding presence in critical sectors including healthcare, education, and technology.
Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia “Babsy” Grange, praised Jamaica’s advancement in the Global Gender Gap Report, emphasizing that the nation is progressing in the right direction. She stressed the importance of dismantling systemic barriers to ensure women’s safety, economic empowerment, and balanced representation across all sectors. The report identifies areas requiring deeper intervention, key gaps include limited female business ownership, wage inequality, and the need for stronger responses to health and gender-based violence.
Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dr. the Honourable Dana Morris Dixon, expressed pride in the country’s educational success: “Jamaica’s top ranking in education is a proud reflection of our long-standing commitment to learning as the foundation of national development. Our efforts to remove barriers to access, promote gender equity, and strengthen our institutions are delivering real impact. Now, our focus must be on translating this educational success into greater equality in the workforce and in leadership.”
