For any society to succeed, it’s pertinent that the entire population contributes their share bit. However, gender disparity in opportunities puts women at a disadvantage. Although women makeup almost half of the world’s population, yet their representation in leadership roles and the workforce is far from being equal to men.
Affirmative action is the only way forward. several nations are great examples of how implementation of legal reforms can bring about a boost in women’s labor force participation and financial inclusion.
Taking a look at Uruguay, we see that the South American country is making strong strides in empowering its women, especially in the workforce. The country has launched several laws and policies needed to support gender equality. these laws are geared towards including protections against workplace discrimination and domestic violence, and legal recognition of reproductive rights.
As the country fights the challenges in its way to attain true gender equality, highlighting existing women leaders becomes essential.
