To address the gender imbalance in Sweden’s business landscape, where male-led enterprises still dominate by 75%, Amazon Sweden has joined forces with Feminvest to empower women entrepreneurs and activate untapped market potential across the region.
Amazon’s newly introduced ‘Expand Initiative’ signals a robust commitment to closing the gender gap in Nordic entrepreneurship, offering a 12-month accelerator that merges marketplace expansion strategies with expert-led business mentoring for high-potential women entrepreneurs.
The initiative empowers broader participation and unlocks new economic value in the Nordic region. Announced by David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer, at Feminvest’s prestigious FEARLESS gathering in Stockholm, the programme underscores company’s broader commitment to empowering female entrepreneurs. David highlighted how the initiative is poised to drive national economic resilience and support long-term innovation in the Swedish business landscape.
Designed to empower women entrepreneurs, the programme will deliver one-year long support that spans business development, bespoke coaching to enhance digital marketplace scaling, access to Amazon’s proprietary tools, and valuable networking and training opportunities. Up to 15 women-owned businesses-in the consumer products sector, will be selected based on factors like product fit, growth potential, and export capacity.
"Sweden's entrepreneurs are both innovative and driven, but we risk missing out on great potential if we do not actively work to promote female entrepreneurship," says Gulfem Toygar, Country Manager for Amazon Sweden. "This programme represents our commitment to nurturing diverse business talent and strengthening the overall business sector."
Female entrepreneurs interested in this transformative opportunity can now submit their applications for the Amazon expand programme’s cohort, set to begin in April 2025 and conclude in March 2026.
