Anthropologie Group Promotes Anu Narayanan as Global President

A global retail brand owned by Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie Group, which sells clothing, home décor, accessories, and lifestyle products, has promoted Anu Narayanan to the expanded role of Global President of Women’s, Home, and Retail.

“I’m honored to share that Anu Narayanan has been promoted to Global President, Anthropologie Women’s, Home, and Retail, expanding her leadership across Global Merchandising and Retail Stores for Anthropologie,” Tricia Smith, Global CEO at Anthropologie said on her Linkedin website.

“Since joining the brand in 2018, Anu has been instrumental in driving Anthropologie’s growth and evolution. Her leadership has enabled us to develop and progress our strategic priorities, and to raise and broaden our portfolio of owned brands.

“She has played a critical role in transforming Anthropologie into a true lifestyle brand – broadening categories, increasing speed to market, and deepening our connection with customers across generations and geographies,” Tricia said.

“Anu’s leadership reflects a rare combination of creative intuition, deep customer understanding, and merchant discipline that continues to drive our business forward. I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter for Anu and confident her leadership will continue to elevate Anthropologie globally,” Smith added, calling it a “well-deserved promotion.”

Anu has worked for Anthropologie Group for almost 8 years and has contributed significantly to bolstering the brand's women's and home business segments. Prior to her new promotion, she was the Chief Merchandising Officer with Women's & Home in 2023 and President of Women's & Home before that.

Before joining Anthropologie in 2018, she served as Senior Vice President at La Senza from 2013 to 2018, and was responsible for the merchandising and brand strategy programs. She also spent time in senior leadership roles at Gap Inc. and Ann Taylor, gaining a wealth of experience in retail operations, merchandising, fashion strategy and customer-driven business growth across multiple global markets.

While working at Anthropologie, she has managed categories such as women's clothing, accessories, beauty, weddings, home, and more, contributing to the brand's growth as a lifestyle brand. Prior to joining Anthropologie in 2018, she served as a senior leader in merchandising, retail strategy and brand development for La Senza, Gap Inc, Ann Taylor and Talbots, gaining deep experience within all aspects of customer-centric brand development.
