ANZ Appoints Sian Chadwick as Chief Marketing Officer

Sian Chadwick joins ANZ as the organization’s new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) immediately. Alongside her current role as General Manager, Marketing, Australia Retail, she will take on the new job, replacing Astrud Burgess, who is leaving after three years in the role as CMO.

As part of her expanded role, Sian will be responsible for ANZ's enterprise-wide marketing strategy, which will include brand strategy and identity, the effectiveness of marketing, governing investment in marketing and coordinating marketing activities across ANZ's operations. Her appointment follows ANZ's recent focus on improving the effectiveness of its marketing efforts throughout the business, as well as its approach to customer engagement.

Astrud Burgess, who has been working with ANZ New Zealand's Customer Propositions portfolio as Chief Marketing Officer, will remain with the bank as Managing Director, Customer Propositions, and New Zealand. As part of her current role, she will be driving the bank's customer experience and growth agenda for New Zealand.

ANZ Group Executive, Australia Retail, Pedro Rodeia, said Sian's leadership and strong marketing background would be a perfect fit for the position.

He called Sian an exemplary marketing leader who brings extensive and deep brand management, customer engagement and business transformation expertise. Rodeia says she has established herself as a leader in creating strong teams, collaborative, and providing valuable results for customers and the company.

He stated the bank believes her leadership will continue to further build the capabilities of its marketing team and build a greater focus around customers and the effectiveness of its marketing across the organization.

Sian said that she was excited about having two hats: Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, Marketing with Australia Retail. It's a privilege to take the helm at this pivotal moment in the bank's development, she said.

She admitted that the marketing team and Burgess in particular had laid a solid groundwork and she is excited at building on that. Her focus on ANZ is on developing a more robust marketing function, better measurement of marketing performance and ensuring that every marketing dollar spent adds value to the customers and the business.

She also spoke of the capabilities of ANZ's branding and marketing teams and how the bank has ample opportunity to enhance customer relationships through better and customer-focused marketing.

Rodeia also acknowledged Burgess for her leadership and contributions as Chief Marketing Officer. He attributed her role in enhancing ANZ's marketing capabilities, refining marketing measurement practices, spearheading the implementation of the bank's brand refresh and elevating marketing to a strategic lever for customer engagement and business growth.

He congratulated Burgess on her work during the last three years and hopes she will continue to have success in her role as the leader of ANZ New Zealand's Customer Propositions business.

The change in leadership follows ANZ's ongoing focus on enhancing their marketing capabilities, and their continued commitment to customer experience and long-term business growth. In his new role as enterprise-wide marketer for the bank, Chadwick is tasked with further strengthening ANZ's brand, making its marketing more effective, and delivering more value for its customers in Australia and New Zealand.
