The Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs Award (BFWEA) and the Impact Hub Network recognized 15 women from Latin America, Africa & the Middle East, and Asia Pacific for addressing some of healthcare and food security's greatest challenges.
Reports by the United Nations and World Health Organization state that close to 295 million individuals globally experience acute hunger and 2.33 billion have food insecurity, which underscores the necessity for accessible, replicable solutions.
Chosen from 1,763 candidates in 117 countries, the 2025 winners are developing solutions such as AI-based health diagnostics, climate-resilient agriculture, community-based models of nutrition, and circular economy strategies.
Chitkala Kalidas, Bayer Foundation Executive Director, stated, "Social entrepreneurs have the potential to effect systemic change. We enable them to grow by providing funding, information exchange, strategic networking, and additional visibility."
Even accounting for 30 percent of GDP in developing markets and having a 70 percent influence on global consumption patterns, women entrepreneurs find it difficult to access capital, mentorship, and exposure, as reported by the World Economic Forum.
The Award fills these gaps by offering each winner a €25,000 cash award, a six-month Accelerator Program, strategic mentorship, and access to a global network through the Impact Hub Network.
Chitkala continued, "By partnering with Impact Hub, we bring entrepreneurs to resources and networks that enable them to scale their impact. This makes local responses to health and food challenges stronger and supports sustainable innovation ecosystems."
