Bolt has launched its #BoltSeesYou initiative in South Africa during Women’s Month, giving women entrepreneurs an opportunity to win a R50,000 grant to support their businesses. The campaign aims to recognise women who are building businesses, overcoming challenges and contributing to communities across the country.
Key Highlights:
The initiative is open to women entrepreneurs in South Africa who use Bolt. Instead of completing a formal application, eligible participants can enter by sharing their business story through a video or a series of photographs on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
To participate, entrepreneurs must tag @BoltSouthAfrica, use the hashtag #BoltSeesYou, keep their post public throughout the campaign and submit no more than one entry. Participants must also meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the initiative’s terms and conditions.
Bolt will review eligible submissions and create a shortlist on a rolling basis. The shortlisted entrepreneurs will then compete through public voting, with the woman receiving the highest number of verified votes by the closing date declared the winner. The R50,000 grant will be transferred electronically to the winning entrepreneur.
Entries and public voting will close at 23:59 SAST on 18 August 2026.
The campaign welcomes entrepreneurs from a broad range of sectors. These include school transport services, salons and beauty businesses, bakeries and food stalls, crèches and childcare services, market stalls, retail, professional services and online businesses.
Adega Murbe-Onyango, regional marketing manager at Bolt Africa, said the initiative seeks to recognise women who take risks, solve problems and continue building their businesses despite difficult circumstances. While only one entrepreneur will receive the financial award, Bolt said every submitted story can help increase visibility for women-led businesses across South Africa.
Beyond the cash grant, the initiative will offer the winner additional exposure. Bolt plans to document the recipient’s entrepreneurial journey and share it through its South African social media platforms, extending the campaign’s focus on visibility and recognition.
The initiative also reflects the challenges faced by many women-owned small businesses in accessing finance and visibility. By using social media storytelling rather than a lengthy formal application process, #BoltSeesYou provides an accessible route for entrepreneurs to present their businesses and connect with a wider audience.
