The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) has launched its tenth women’s business mission to Asia, named "Securing our Futures: The Canadian Women-only Business Mission to the Philippines," with a public symposium scheduled on February 4, 2026, in Manila.
The symposium, named "Women Securing Our Shared Futures: Building Resilience Through Canada-Philippines Collaboration," will include a keynote address by Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, Secretary of Trade and Industry, Government of the Philippines, and panel discussions.
This mission is a part of the 2019-26 Women’s Business Mission to Asia Series of APF Canada and showcases Canadian women entrepreneurs who are working towards sustainable solutions in food and energy security, infrastructure, and the digital economy, and their importance in the global economy.
The vice president of APF Canada for central Canada, Christine Nakamura, and the mission lead, acknowledged that Canada and the Indo-Pacific region need an opportunity for informed dialogue that is broad-based and respectful of all communities.
Christine stated that the primary focus areas for the symposium will be on building partnerships, promoting gender-inclusive commerce, developing global partnerships, and achieving a sustainable future for both Canada and the Philippines.
The symposium will host over 100 delegates from Canada and the Philippines, including female business owners, business people, and investors, representatives of trade, students and advocates for the economic empowerment of women.
Christine was very happy to have Secretary Aldeguer-Roque join as the keynote speaker and noted that, given today's global economic instability, it is more important than ever to build strong trade and investment ties between Canada and the Philippines.
