DIU Hosts UAE-Backed Seminar on Women's Empowerment

Daffodil International University (DIU) and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Bangladesh collaborated to host a Seminar on Women's Leadership, Innovation and Opportunities in a Changing Global Landscape. The seminar was titled "Women Empowerment in a changing world: Leadership, innovation and opportunities.”

The seminar was held at the International Conference Hall of Knowledge Tower, Daffodil Smart City on July 28th, with discussions focused on women leadership, entrepreneurship development, innovation, and women participation in a global context.

The UAE Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi was the chief guest of the seminar and emphasized the significance of empowering women in the development of the UAE. He also spoke on the contribution of women in the fields of education, business, international ties and the production of human resources in the country.

The presence of the UAE Ambassador in the seminar also underscored the deepening educational and institutional cooperation between the UAE and Daffodil International University.

Multilingual entrepreneur, international business consultant and strategic development expert Laura Acker was a keynote speaker. She spoke about the importance of women's leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills and skills development, and lifelong learning for women to grasp opportunities in the rapidly evolving global economy.

The chairman of Daffodil International University's (DIU) Board of Trustees Md Sabur Khan presided over the event. Students, faculty members from different departments, various officials of DIU and the acting vice chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Mohammad Masum Iqbal, attended the seminar.

The seminar also focused on various topics such as Women's Leadership Development, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Employment Opportunities and Women's Role in the Evolving Global World.

These issues of women's role in education, International cooperation and the training of skilled human resources were also brought to the fore by the speakers. The seminar was also part of DIU's international education activities, hinting at DIU's Ras Al Khaimah Campus in the United Arab Emirates.

Opening the branch campus in the UAE in 2024 is another important step towards the University of Dhaka's continued engagement with different countries and international educational efforts, being the first Bangladesh University to establish a campus overseas.

The seminar was arranged with the aim of introducing opportunities for students, teachers, young entrepreneurs and interested people to have a glimpse into the international experiences and practical approaches.

It has also helped to promote Learning from and sharing experience in Bangladesh and UAE on women's empowerment, leadership and inclusive growth. The organizers showed their interest in creating more academic collaboration between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates in such international cooperation.

The establishment of DIU RAK Campus and their continued collaboration with UAE institutions will create additional opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers and industry partners, as well as allow for leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and global engagement.
