Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has underscored their role in driving Abuja’s shift toward a more sustainable, environmentally conscious, and innovation-driven economic model. This comes as a part of their long-term growth agenda keeping women entrepreneurs at the core of their strategic vision.
In line with the theme “Rethink, Reinvent, Regenerate,” FCT Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud delivered the keynote addressing at the 2026 Global Africa Women’s Sustainability Conference for Women Entrepreneur. She emphasized that the FCT aligns with the growth strategy with international sustainability standards. The agenda highlights focus on climate resilience, circular economic structures, and environmentally conscious enterprises.
Dr. Mariya emphasized on strategic priorities, and stated that the administration led by Nyesom Wike is implementing policies to accelerate women-led innovation. She announced that the focus is on agriculture, renewable energy, fashion, and fintech as engines of growth for future, with women and youth being critical to achieving equitable and sustainable growth.
She noted that women are transitioning from marginal roles to becoming central focus in shaping a “new sustainable development order.” Dr. Mariya pointed out at the challenges that women face from financing, markets, technology, and enabling regulatory systems. As a solution, she stated that the ongoing FCT initiatives are designed to reduce red tape, upgrade infrastructure, and build entrepreneurial capacity.
The conference was hosted by ImpactHER at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre. It focuses on increasing momentum around green economic frameworks in Abuja and across Africa to convert commitments into tangible business access and outcomes.
