Global Women Leaders Summit Hosted by Beijing Concludes

The Global Leaders' Meeting on Women concluded in Beijing on Monday and was addressed by and attended by Chinese State Councilor and All-China Women's Federation President Shen Yiqin and UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous.

Shen pointed out the five practical steps China encouraged to support ongoing women's advancement globally, adding that they reflect the spirit of a country of common development and have been well-received by the other participants.

She later stated that China would be willing to work with the rest of the world to implement the proposals and resolutions made in the meeting to facilitate women reaching their full potential.

Sima reflected that China's actions for gender equality and support to empowering women globally is a good model for other countries to engage in as well.

The conference drew close to 800 delegates from over 110 nations and global organizations. The delegations of 46 nations and leaders described the meeting as a milestone of the women's movement across the world and made concrete commitments to further the development of women.
