In the 2026 Women’s World Car of the Year Awards, the title of the Best Large SUV went to the Hyundai Motor Company’s large all-electric SUV, the Hyundai Ioniq 9.
As reported by the news release by the Hyundai Motor Company on January 14, this award is the second consecutive year the company receives this award, having won the award in 2025 with the Hyundai Santa Fe.
WWCOTY Awards is an international program that is judged by 84 women automotive journalists in 54 countries around the world, spread across five continents. This selection process considers factors such as safety, quality, design, performance, driving comfort, eco-friendliness, as well as value for money.
In the case of the 2026 awards, over 55 cars which were launched in the year 2025 and spanned over two continents and 40 countries have been shortlisted in the six car categories.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 was honored for its focus on passengers, generous cabin space, and an overall range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge. The winners in each category will then fight for the “Best Car of the Year” award, and this will be announced in March.
"The Hyundai Ioniq 9 shows how well innovation and practicality can be integrated: this car offers fast charging, ample passenger compartment, and top-notch quality. It sets the standard for the segment of full-size electric SUVs,” said Marta Garcia, the WWCOTY award jury chair.
