At the Rosa Volpi Women Development Centre in Onne, Rivers State, INTELS Nigeria Limited has held its graduation ceremony for 62 women who have completed their 2025 Women Empowerment Project Scheme (WEPSS).
This initiative provides training in the area of tailoring and fashion design for women from economically challenged backgrounds.
WEPSS was established in 2013 and offers support to women in the way of developing economic independence through entrepreneurship, building self-confidence and creating a self-sustaining business.
Managing Director Pasquale Fiore indicates that this programme gives women the opportunity to develop sustainable business opportunities for themselves. Additionally, top students will receive furnishings, starter kits and equipment to assist in starting their businesses.
For instance, this year's top graduate, Saraphina Jacob, received N2m and professional equipment like a heavy duty sewing machine and steam iron, while the other graduates received business starter kits/space and tools.
Project Coordinator Nancy Freeborn shared that the programme provides a way for participants to contribute positively to their family and community.
Over the years, INTELS has developed and implemented a variety of initiatives aimed at promoting economic empowerment, including creating avenues for women to develop skills and start a business in Rivers State and beyond through WEPSS.
