With effect from June 30, Janet LaBar has been appointed the Executive Director OF Women's Impact Fund of Charlotte. Janet brings a wealth of leadership experience in regional and community development, having previously been the CEO of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance from 2019 to 2024.
To date, the 450-member Women's Impact Fund has given out 110 grants totaling $8.5 million. According to its website, its goal is to "maximize women’s leadership in philanthropy through collective giving, education, and engagement."
Board chair Katie Susong stated, "Janet brings decades of leadership experience in the Charlotte community and beyond." "She is highly regarded, incredibly relational, and renowned for establishing audacious goals, handling intricate priorities, and promoting social and economic advancement."
Janet served as president and CEO of Greater Portland Inc., an organization that promotes economic development in the Portland, Oregon, area, before moving to Charlotte. Patricia Massey Hoke, who oversaw the Women's Impact Fund for six years, is her successor.
Janet contributes decades of leadership experience both inside and outside of the Charlotte community. She is well-respected, relationship-oriented, and has a track record of establishing audacious goals, managing challenging priorities, and promoting community and economic development.
She enhanced community relations and encouraged equitable economic development while serving as president and CEO of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.
