The public authority for civil aviation at Kuwait emphasized its commitment to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in aviation by hosting a social event at the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (Icao) in Montreal, Canada.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, Deputy Director General of Aviation and Air Transport Security, said the Kuwait delegation had participated in the Global Network of Gender Connection Directors (Globes), mainly intended to exchange the best practices and challenges and local and international consultations to improve the role of women in aviation.
Kuwait was also there for Ameera Al-Azmi and Shoug Al-Kout, and this again highlighted the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the support of the vision of the Icao for gender balance, as well as the national strategy of empowering women in all sectors, including civil aviation.
Abdullah clarified that the purpose of this session was to produce successful programs and tools to involve women at all stages of the aviation sector and promote their participation in international forums.
Furthermore, the forum allowed the experience to share the experiences, to comment on how women contributed to aviation and faced challenges.
The General Assembly of ICAO 42 is in session till October 3, 2023 and includes all members of the states and various inter -government and international civil aviation organizations that will discuss and advise international civil aviation priorities including stability, security, innovation and gender equity.
