In the last move, Lagos state government has trained a total of 1200 women to empower them achieving financial independence. This week, the training’s last batch i.e., 100 women has been provided with financial literacy skills at a riverine community in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oko-Agbon.

Through the Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), the training has been done with Africa Human Capacity Development Plus as the technical partner. In addition, this particular training has been organised with an intent to offer knowledge to women that are required to unlock financial independence while securing their livelihoods for themselves as well as their families.

Additionally, Dr Oreoluwa Finnih, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sustainable Development Goals said while speaking at the Human Capital Development Grand Finale that took place at Oko-Agbon in Agboyi-Ketu, Lagos State, that the programme focused on women, specifically, in those communities which are hard to reach because empowering these women is the quickest way to grow communities.

Adding to the statement, Dr Oreoluwa said, “Today, that noble endeavour conceived barely a year ago has blossomed into a movement of measurable impact and meaningful change. It has touched lives, opened doors, and restored confidence in countless women who now see themselves as active participants in the economic growth of our state.”
