At the Canadian Road Championships in Saint Georges, Québec, Nadia Gontova had a milestone moment in her cycling career with her first individual time trial victory at the elite women's level. The Liv AlUla Jayco rider delivered a dominant display in what has been an astounding career progression in pro-cycling.

Nadia’s successful time trial performance secured her national title in a very tough time trial with a finish of 38 minutes and 8 seconds. Her victory had her coming in 1 minute and 8 seconds behind runner-up former three-time Canadian time trial winner Paula Findlay. Emily Driedger from The Cyclery Racing rounded off the podium in 1:38:38 behind the new national champion.

The victory also demonstrates her ability to excel in one of cycling's most demanding disciplines, where riders compete individually against the clock without team support.

  • First elite Canadian women's time trial title in Nadia’s professional career.
  • Won 27.8km race by more than one minute comfortably.
  • Breakthrough WorldTour season continues with another significant career milestone.

Consistent performances in North America and Europe steadily developed Nadia’s reputation before she got on to the WorldTour. She got her first racing with the Canadian-based Red Truck Racing team, and then was picked up by Roxo Racing, DNA Pro Cycling and Winspace. In that trip, she proved she could be competitive on a variety of terrain and in more competitive opposition.

Nadia also had a great debut season in 2025 with notable performances in highland races in Spain. It was her success in the Tour de France Femmes that raised her international profile however. There she finished a brilliant 10th on the final stage to Chatel and overall 23rd in the general classification which meant she was capable of beating many of the world's best riders.

In a previous interview, Nadia admitted that she had been “transformed” by her performance at the Tour de France Femmes, claiming, "It was my success at the Tour de France Femmes that led to multiple contract offers from top-tier programmes, culminating in my move to Liv AlUla Jayco.”

With the first win at an elite Canadian individual time trial championship under her belt, Nadia has become part of an already stellar season. The win at the national level will also add to her impressive professional cycling journey and further prove her potential to future international success.
