New Sarawak Dashboard to Boost Women-Led Businesses

The Sarawak government has been working on creating its first digital platform that brings together real-time data on women entrepreneurs, to ensure better service delivery of training, financial assistance as well as business development programs throughout the state.

The creation of the platform, the Women Entrepreneurship Dashboard (WED), is a collaboration between the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS), the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) and the Sarawak Civil Service Digitalization Unit (SCSDU).

The program aims to consolidate all the real-time data on women entrepreneurs in a single digital platform. The centralization of this data will enable the government of Sarawak to better understand the state's women-led business landscape and provide more tailored support to women entrepreneurs according to their needs and growth potential.

The announcement coincided with the celebration of the Sarawak Women's Day 2026 and the Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, referred to the dashboard as Sarawak's first integrated digital platform to support the development of women entrepreneurs in the state.

“At the heart of the initiative is a centralized database that will consolidate entrepreneurs’ profiles using real-time information and integrate them with the Entrepreneur Database System (ENBASE),” she said.

The new platform will help authorities create a clearer picture of the women entrepreneurship landscape; pinpoint entrepreneurs' locations; understand the obstacles entrepreneurs are encountering; gauge their business development capacity; and determine the support they need, according to the minister.

“This will enable us to gain better insight on the reality of women entrepreneurs in Sarawak, their location, challenges, growth potential and their needs for support.”

“With more accurate and up-to-date data, the government will be better positioned to design evidence-based policies, training programs, financial assistance and capacity-building initiatives tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs”, she added.

The dashboard is expected to enhance coordination amongst the government agencies working on entrepreneurship development and strengthen program planning and implementation for women entrepreneurs. The government's use of entrepreneurs' profiles and its linking to the Entrepreneur Database System (ENBASE) will save them from having to manage information and reach eligible entrepreneurs more efficiently.

The initiative also signals Sarawak's overall efforts to hasten the process of digital transformation of public services, and to ensure inclusive economic participation. It is hoped that better and timely access to data will assist policy makers in taking well-informed decisions, track support program effectiveness and help identify areas of support missing for women entrepreneurs.

The Sarawak Women's Day 2026 celebration also highlighted seven women and organizations that have made an impact in the fields of women's leadership, entrepreneurship, social development and the digital economy.

It is hoped that the Women Entrepreneurship Dashboard will be instrumental in enhancing the women entrepreneurship ecosystem in Sarawak by providing information to support policy formulation and help close the gap between the training and funding needs of women entrepreneurs and the changing demands of women entrepreneurs in the State.
