Nigerian Minister Mariya Praises Women's Role in Education & Mentorship

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Nigeria's Minister of State in the Federal Capital Territory, has praised the significant role that women play in advancing education and shaping the world's future through their work in mentoring, teaching, research, and administration.

Through Joy Okeke, Permanent Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Mahmoud read at the opening of the 2nd National Conference of the Association of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE) in Zuba, Abuja, and praised the organization's members and leadership for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and gender inclusivity in Nigeria's educational institutions.

Highlighting the importance of the occasion, she said that the conference's theme, "Revolutionizing Education: Announcing Innovative Pedagogies for 21st Century Students," is not only relevant today but also aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's “Renewed Hope Agenda”, which focuses on human capital development and inclusive education.

As a strategic step toward national progress, Dr. Mariya reaffirmed the administration's commitment to funding professional associations and educational initiatives like WICE. She exhorted conference participants to use the platform to exchange ideas, expand their professional networks, train future teachers, and create practical plans to change the education industry and society as a whole.
