Samsung Medison has launched the HERA Z10, a premium obstetrics and gynaecology (OB/GYN) ultrasound system designed to improve prenatal diagnostics, clinical efficiency, and maternal-fetal care. The launch, announced on September 7, completes the company’s HERA Z Series and joins the flagship HERA Z20.
Key Highlights:
Samsung Medison unveiled the expanded series at the 34th International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress, held in London from September 4 to 7. The company positioned the HERA Z platform as a comprehensive diagnostic solution addressing the healthcare needs of both mothers and babies.
The launch comes as rising maternal age and pregnancy-related complications increase the demand for accurate imaging and faster clinical decision-making. Women’s health ultrasound systems are increasingly moving beyond routine fetal assessments towards technologies that can support the detection and management of complex maternal and fetal conditions.
The HERA Z10 incorporates AI-driven workflows aimed at reducing examination time and manual effort. According to clinical research conducted with professors Giuseppe Rizzo and Daniele Di Mascio of Sapienza University of Rome, its Live ViewAssist technology can reduce scan times during detailed mid-trimester ultrasound examinations by up to 52%.
Another AI-enabled feature, EzStructure, automates key measurement processes and can reduce manual manipulation by up to 71%. Samsung Medison said this can improve measurement consistency and objectivity while reducing workload and fatigue for clinicians.
The system also combines AI capabilities with advanced imaging technology. Its beamforming technology is designed to enhance image clarity, supporting more detailed examinations. The HERA Z10 further includes MV-Flow 3D, which visualises microvascular blood flow at high resolution. The technology can help clinicians assess abnormal uterine and umbilical cord blood vessels and diagnose conditions such as placenta accreta, particularly in high-risk pregnancies.
For uterine assessments, FibroidVue uses AI to automatically segment and measure the uterus, endometrium, and fibroid regions. This is intended to make assessments more efficient and intuitive while reducing dependence on manual measurements.
The HERA Z Series also incorporates dedicated neonatal probes and AI-assisted tools, extending its application across maternal and neonatal care. The HERA Z10 retains the AI workflow capabilities of the HERA Z20 while adding advanced beamforming technology, giving healthcare institutions a broader choice of premium ultrasound systems for different clinical environments.
At the London congress, Samsung Medison also showcased its “Art of Ultrasound” AI digital art exhibition, which reinterpreted fetal ultrasound images. The company demonstrated a digital solution integrating Galaxy Tab devices, enabling clinicians and mothers to monitor fetal growth records throughout pregnancy.
Jihyun Kim, Head of CX Team at Samsung Medison, said the HERA Z10 represents a milestone in extending the clinical value of the HERA Z Series to a wider range of healthcare settings. The company aims to use premium imaging and AI workflows to provide healthcare professionals with solutions suited to different clinical requirements.
