Thailand has been officially selected to host the 2027 Global Summit of Women (GSW), reinforcing its position as a leading destination for international business events and global dialogue on women's empowerment. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Global Summit of Women, held in Istanbul, Türkiye, in June, where representatives from more than 60 countries gathered to discuss the future of women in leadership, entrepreneurship, technology, and economic development.
Key Highlights:
Founded more than 35 years ago by President Irene Natividad, the Global Summit of Women is recognised as one of the world's foremost international forums dedicated to advancing women's leadership. Each year, the summit attracts more than 1,000 presidents, ministers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and thought leaders from both the public and private sectors to strengthen global partnerships and share best practices.
Thailand's delegation was led by former Minister of Tourism and Sports Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, alongside prominent representatives from government, business, and academia, including Ms. Supatra Chirathivat, Dr. Narudee Kiengsiri, and officials from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and leading Thai companies.
During the official handover ceremony, Mrs. Kobkarn accepted the responsibility of hosting the next summit on behalf of Thailand and reaffirmed the country's commitment to delivering a world-class event in Bangkok in June 2027. The ceremony also featured vibrant cultural performances representing Thailand's four regions, offering delegates a glimpse of the country's rich heritage and hospitality.
Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President and Director of TCEB, highlighted Thailand's internationally recognised convention facilities, tourism infrastructure, and hospitality industry, emphasising Bangkok's reputation as one of Asia's premier destinations for global conferences and exhibitions. The city is expected to welcome more than 1,000 delegates from government, business, academia, and civil society during the 2027 summit.
Among the Thai representatives was Dr. Narisa Chauvidul-Aw, CEO and Founder of KogoPay and KogoX, who returned to the Global Summit of Women after participating as a speaker at the 2025 edition in Berlin. Reflecting on this year's discussions, she praised the calibre of global women leaders and highlighted the importance of conversations surrounding financial technology, Web3, tokenisation, and artificial intelligence in driving economic inclusion and sustainable growth.
Dr. Narisa also expressed pride in Thailand's selection as the 2027 host, describing it as an opportunity to showcase the country's innovation, hospitality, and capability while inspiring the next generation of women entrepreneurs and leaders. She noted that hosting the summit would strengthen international collaboration and create new avenues for business partnerships and knowledge exchange.
