U.S. Women's Team Defeats France in FIBA World Cup Victory

The United States Women’s Basketball Team has scored yet another victory in the history of their international play, defeating France 97-79 in order to secure their fifth consecutive FIBA World Cup victory. The latest success is yet another evidence of the American team’s domination in women’s basketball, although this year’s championship proved to be more competitive than previous ones.

The most difficult opponent for the United States in the championship game was France, which gained a 14-point lead within the first half of the game. It is the biggest deficit that the U.S. had to endure since their last loss in an international tournament. The Russian national team had already defeated the American team in the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup.
