Women's Return-to-Work Program Boosted with Higher Subsidy Support

  • Taiwan's Labor Ministry will offer expanded support under multiple revised re-entry to work programs
  • New incentives: installment payment replacing one-off payment, with a maximum of $60,000
  • Strong uptake: 90,000+ women supported with jobs, training, and services

Expanded support is being provided for long-term unemployed women seeking employment. Taiwan's Labor Ministry will offer expanded support under multiple revised programs and policies associated with the Women's Re-entry to Work program and its associated challenges.

Under the revised programs and policies, there will be revisions regarding eligibility factors, incentives or grant amounts for each individual and employer support will lower some barriers/thresholds and increase the amount of the subsidy.

As of September 2023, over 90,000 women have used the program and have been able to access personalized employment services, self-directed training, and receive re-employment incentives.

The recent revisions to the Women's Re-entry Program allow for more relaxed eligibility restrictions, including eliminating the provision that an individual would need to have left their most recent position for family-related reasons; now, any individuals who have been unemployed for 180 or more days may apply for the benefits related to these programs.

Modifications or revisions to the incentive mechanism were also made to establish a multiple phased payment structure. Previously, the program provided for a one-time payment of $30,000 to an individual after 90 days of affected employment. This had changed to allow for a grant or incentive of $10,000 for each 30-day period to a maximum of $60,000.
