Mary Wollstonecraft - Early Feminist; Women’s Education & Equality

Mary Wollstonecraft had a significant impact on the rights of women, and she was a philosopher and an author in the 18th century. When women were mostly underprivileged of intellectual growth and education, Mary came out to fight, arguing the women had equal opportunities to get education as men.
A Vindication of the Rights of Woman Mary’s important work is generally considered as one of the texts of feminism of modernity. In this she quoted that “women should be treated with equal dignity and respect to men, especially regarding education”. Mary opposed the assumption that women were inherently inferior to men and that apparent weakness of the women was only because of the lack of education and social hesitations.
Mary considered that educated females would help society. She asserted that women could be better citizens of the society in case they received equal education as men. The thoughts she had become the intellectual foundation of feminist movements that were yet to come and provided the activists of all the generations with the strength to resist gender inequalities.
