Curves, the fourth-largest women’s fitness franchise in the world, are expanding its franchise network around the UK and Europe as demand for wellness spaces for women continues to grow.
The global women's wellness market is estimated at over £3 billion and the company claims to provide a proven and low-cost way for entrepreneurs to enter a growing sector within the health and fitness space.
Based in Texas, Curves was founded in 1992 by Gary and Diane Heavin with the goal of creating a welcoming and no intimidating space for women of all ages and fitness levels to achieve their fitness goals.
Today, after over 30 years, the brand has approximately 3,000 clubs worldwide and continues to focus on a 30-minute full-body workout and community-oriented fitness.
Curves' company history in structure its long-term growth around a simple franchise system designed to help business owners become profitable quickly. This includes a structured onboard, marketing support, and ongoing business development.
As a result, the company claims that franchisees are often positive EBITDA within eight months, which is typically before they are cash-flow breakeven by year two. In two cases, clubs reached cash-flow break-even even sooner.
Chief of Operations Joanna Dase said the system is designed to help franchisees make an immediate impact: “Women are driving the global wellness economy,” she noted, emphasizing the support franchise owners receive in operations, marketing, and membership growth.
Franchisees are supported at every step, from site selection and planning to club layout, operational setup, and member engagement. The company says these resources help ensure a strong member experience and efficient business performance.
The total investment required is £45,750, which includes the franchise fee, equipment, and Curves' own SMART proprietary training system, making the business one of the more affordable franchises within the sector.
The company says its combination of affordability, support, and established global brand presence makes it an attractive opportunity for entrepreneurs as interest in women-centered wellness continues to rise.
