Huawei South Africa and Henley Business School Africa, in collaboration, have successfully concluded the fourth edition of the Women in Tech Digital Skills Training Programme, empowering 40 women entrepreneurs and government leaders with the ability to thrive in the face of an increasingly digitising economy.
Founded in 2021, the Huawei Women in Tech program has evolved to become a platform for women who have an interest in technology.
More than 300 participants have enrolled in the program, which is a mixture of experiential leadership training and exposure to the latest digital technologies.
This year's group consisted of entrepreneurs and senior women officials of the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL), Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), and Department of Digital Technologies (DCDT).
The programme wound up at Henley Business School in Johannesburg, where Executive Coach Christine Williams conducted a masterclass in personal mastery, work-life integration, and leadership in a rapidly changing environment. Attendees were able to think through how they lead themselves and others.
Christine invited participants to live with curiosity and ongoing self-development. "To be curious about how we become leaders allows us to be of positive value to the systems we are a part of," she explained, speaking to women's roles in leadership.
Tshegofatso Maubane from STEM Technologies, who participated in the programme, pointed out that the sessions offered hands-on skills for stress management, boundaries, and conflict handling—skills those women entrepreneurs found especially useful. She further pointed out that the programme embedded the essence of lifelong learning.
