Nureva, a leading provider of cutting-edge audio-conferencing technology, has announced that its President and CEO, Nancy Knowlton, has been awarded Canada's King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The medal, introduced in May 2023 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, honours Canadians who have made important contributions to their nation, province, or community, or who have achieved distinction internationally that brings credit to Canada.

Nancy was awarded the medal on July 15, 2025, at a ceremony organized by the Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI) in Calgary, Alberta. It was for her efforts in public policy, business, and philanthropy. The Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and CGAI leadership presented the medal to her in recognition.

It is after being awarded Canada's Meritorious Service Medal in 2024 for her exceptional service in education.

With more than three decades of devotion to improving learning and collaboration, Nancy is highly recognized for co-founding SMART Technologies with her spouse, David Martin, and launching the popular SMART Board. She currently heads Nureva, concentrating on audio solutions driven by Microphone Mist™ technology that enable hybrid learning and working environments.

She is also President and CEO of Nialli, a Nureva subsidiary that was introduced in 2020 and provides digital planning software for the construction sector to boost team collaboration and project delivery.

In response to the recognition, Knowlton said:

“It’s a tremendous honour to be recognised alongside so many accomplished Canadians. I’m grateful to the Canadian Global Affairs Institute for nominating me and to everyone who has supported me in the pursuit of ideas that improve how people connect and learn.”

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is the first Canadian commemorative medal issued for a coronation. Alongside Nancy, 10 other leaders in business, the public sector, and philanthropy were awarded the medal through nominations from CGAI’s Calgary office.
