New Zealand Women created a new record in women’s ODI cricket in the second ODI against South Africa Women at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
They achieved the highest successful run chase in the history of women’s ODI cricket, breaking the previous record held by India in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. NZ women successfully chased 347 run target and defeating South Africa by two wickets. Amelia Kerr was the anchor in the chase with an unbeaten innings of 179 off 139 balls as New Zealand Women won the match against South Africa Women and leveled the series.
The previous record was held by India when they chased 339 against Australia in the semi-finals of the 2025 World Cup in Navi Mumbai. They achieved the target with the loss of five wickets, with Jemimah Rodrigues scoring an unbeaten 127 in the match.
Other successful high chases in the history of women’s ODI cricket include Australia’s chase of 331 against India in Visakhapatnam in 2025, Sri Lanka’s chase of 302 against South Africa in Potchefstroom in 2024, and Australia’s chase of 289 against New Zealand in North Sydney in 2012.
