Sharjah, UAE - PublisHer, an international initiative launched by Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi to support women within the publishing industry, has formally entered into a strategic MoU agreement with the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone Authority (SPC Free Zone).
The key objective behind this MoU is to provide increased opportunities to women publishers, both regionally and globally.
As per the deal, SPC Free Zone will extend specific incentives for women-majority publishing houses, in the form of exclusive licensing deals, utilization of the SPC Free Zone business environment, and facilitation for promoting PublisHer’s activities on the SPC Free Zone digital platforms.
Apart from this, there will also be workshops, book launches, networking, media outreach, and utilization of SPC’s Sheen Theater for certain yearly events.
PublisHer shall provide support for female publishers based at SPC by linking them up with its membership, listing them in its international directory, as well as offering mentorship and capacity building initiatives aimed at improving professional capacities.
Her Highness Sheikha stated that this MOU represents the enthusiasm of the Emirate of Sharjah in cultivating opportunities and knowledge, which will allow female publishers to succeed as producers within this internationally networked publishing hub.
The partnership benefits from the ecosystem offered by Sharjah Publishing City, which is home to over 9,600 companies from over 100 countries, making the emirate one of the main publishing and creative and knowledge-based services centers in the world.
