Standard Chartered Bank in Ghana celebrated the graduation of 30 young females in its Women Entrepreneurship Skills Project on December 17, 2025.
The project has been carried out in collaboration with the McAryce Foundation after a three-month vocational and entrepreneurship skills training program. The project targets women from less-advantaged communities.
Practical training sessions under the programme included cosmetology, cookery, and soap making. At the graduation exercises, Asiedua Addae, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing for Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, noted the value of training as a tool for instilling confidence.
Standard Chartered Bank Ghana fully sponsored this program. The beneficiaries earned a certification in Proficiency from the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI). This credential is nationally recognized and provides a strong basis for employability.
The NVTI was formed in 1970 by collaboration with United Nations’ Development Program. The initial idea was for a national framework of vocational training in Ghana.
Family members, Programme partners, representatives from Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, and the McAryce Foundation were all in attendance for the graduation ceremony. Graduates received NVTI Proficiency certificates as well as completion certificates from the Women Entrepreneurship Skills Project.
Several graduates mentioned starting their own practices or seeking employment in already established businesses in their trade; the participants also reported that full funding meant they were able to complete the programme with no financial barriers.
The Women Entrepreneurship Skills Project forms part of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana's broader community development and economic inclusion in its various initiatives aimed at addressing different needs across underserved populations.
