Women's empowerment platform Queen Moremi has announced a program where it will offer free PR training to 5,000 Nigerian female SME founders in 2026.

The program will be instrumental in enabling women entrepreneurs to build essential visibility and communication skills required for effective competitiveness within the context of Nigeria's rapidly evolving digital and AI-driven business environment.

Women feature prominently in the SME sector and currently own more than 41 percent of all micro-businesses, while owning about 32 percent of all MSMEs.

The 2024 report showed that the number of businesses owned by females has continued to rise, at a growth rate of more than 14.29 percent, even in the face of unfavorable economic conditions.

It includes, but is not limited to, retail, agriculture, fashion and beauty, food and beverage production, logistics, wellness, and professional services. Many women are still operating in environments that are not conducive to their success.

To thrive and be competitive in the increasing digital marketplace, women-owned SMEs need to become visible and need a strong online presence, including social media and e-commerce due to the oversaturated nature of local markets.

With the introduction of AI-created content and sophisticated branding, a growing divide is happening amongst SMEs with successful marketing plans, and those that do not.

Many women business owners cannot compete in today's marketplace since they are not aware of how to use public relations or are unable to afford the resources to utilize PR; they also often have limited professional networks.

Queen Moremi's training program is targeted at solving these problems through assisting the participants in building unshakeable brand stories, improving on digital visibility, engaging in media services, using artificial intelligence tools for content and customer communication, increasing profitability by way of raising a more recognizable and trusted brand presence.

Moremi Elekwachi, Founder of Queen Moremi, said that the initiative has been designed to empower women who are running creative and impactful businesses, but most of the time, stay under-recognized.

She highlighted that strategic visibility and storytelling lie at the heart of business growth in today's environment, and added that the program will be equipping 5,000 women with the resources they need to strengthen their brands and scale sustainably.

The platform said increased visibility for women-led businesses can engender strong local economies, create jobs and enhance national economic growth.
