According to an official statement from the International Cricket Council, the prize pool for this tournament is $87,646,153, an increase of 10 percent over the previous event’s prize pool of $79,580,077. The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will feature 12 teams for the first time ever, up from 10 the previous year.
The teams that comprise the tournament include Australian, Bangladesh, Indian, Irish, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scots, South African, Sri Lankan, and West Indian teams, while England will be the host nation.
In terms of prize money distributions, the winning team will receive $2,340,000 and the runner-up team will earn $1,170,000; each losing semi-finalist will earn $675,000. The total amount awarded to individual match winners within a team will be $31,154. Additionally, all 12 participating teams will receive a minimum of $247,500 in prize money.
On June 12, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 kicks off at Edgbaston, Birmingham as England takes on Sri Lanka. 33 matches will take place within 24 days across 7 different venues where teams will vie for the biggest prize in women's T20 cricket.
The ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta stated that, "the growth of women's cricket continues to accelerate and the expansion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to 12 teams along with the historical record prize pool for all participants demonstrates the ICC’s commitment to building a stronger and more competitive global women's cricket game.
The growing success of women's cricket through continued investment and greater opportunities for performance quality, reflect the undeniable impact and influence of women players on the world stage."
Tournament Director Beth Barrett-Wild said: “The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be a watershed moment for the game. It is on track to become the most-attended women’s cricket event in history, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest prize money ever offered for any global women’s T20 competition.”
“This level of investment, coupled with prize money on par with the men’s game, is a testament to the status, quality and influence of women’s cricket today. There is tremendous evidence of popularity” she added.
