The Securities Commission Malaysia has undertaken the launch of investED for Returning Women, a programme designed to equip women professionals for re-entry into the capital market workforce, following a hiatus in their careers.

SC Chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi explained that the initiative is aligned with the commission’s overarching objective of increasing women presence in boardrooms and in the workforce as part of Malaysia’s gender-inclusive growth agenda.

"Through an initiative that welcomes the capable, qualified and experienced women professional back into the workforce and assisting them with readjustment we are increasing the talent to the pipeline to promote the same diversity. More gender diversity equates to more balanced decisions which will provide better business outcomes," he said during the launch event.

Datuk noted that so far, the initiative has attracted a positive response with over 600 applicants

Selected participants of the initiative come from various backgrounds in banking, finance, and the corporate world and will start with Refresh, its first phase, centered on restoring confidence, reintroducing workplace culture, and developing soft skills through career clinics, individual guidance, and networking events.

The second phase, Reskill, aims to refresh the participants' technical and industry knowledge related to the capital market with structured training, exposure, and support in the first six months of employment.

“The combined two phases provides a complete pathway to ensure women return to the workplace successfully,” SC said in a statement. Participants who complete both phases will eligible for a RM2, 000 support incentive and a certificate of completion.

The SC added that investED for Returning Women is built upon the same model as the investED Leadership Programme, which includes structured classroom learning, mentorship, and industry placements to facilitate a successful transition back into the workforce.
