On April 3rd, in Ninh Binh, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union hosted a conference to review five years of implementing the emulation movement "Good at State Affairs, Good at Housework".
This conference was graced by many dignitaries including Thai Thu Xuong–the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, representatives from the Ministry of Construction, Union Leaders and many of our fellow union members.
Pham Hoai Phuong (the Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union) d opened the meeting by stating that by the end of 2025, there are 34,876 female union members in the construction sector which represents 26.8 percent of total union membership.
He also stated that in addition to growth in the number of female members, there has also been an improvement in their quality of work, particularly with respect to the digital transformation and integration requirements.
The results from five years of implementing this emulation movement have been much stronger with tangible results that are directly related to professional responsibility for production and business results. With respect to “good at state affairs” contributions by female workers, these have resulted in over 1,130 technical innovations that generated profits of over 30 billion VND.
In particular, a higher percentage of female workers now hold university or postgraduate degrees with many female engineers and technical workers using modern technologies such as BIM and 3D design software.
The trade union has also encouraged women workers' clubs, information technology application in the union's management and communication activities, and the support for female workers at construction sites located in remote areas. The promotion of family values has been maintained to help women balance their work, family, and societal lives.
In the conference, Thai Thu emphasized that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would continue to work with related ministries and agencies to study and propose policies for female workers in the construction industry with the hope of better working conditions for female workers.
