The Women’s Pavilion at Expo City Dubai has launched the FemTech Hub, a groundbreaking project that seeks to move women’s health forward through science, technology, education, innovation, and economic empowerment.

Created in collaboration with Meem Foundation, American Hospital Dubai, and PeriCare, the project was announced during the World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February).

The FemTech Hub will fill the current gaps in women’s health, knowledge, and innovation in the Middle East and around the globe. It will provide learning opportunities, research-to-market solutions, and entrepreneurship tools to drive health innovations for women.

Expo City Dubai is becoming an important company in one of the fastest-growing industries around the world: the FemTech Industry, which develops health technology and solutions for women. It is estimated that the FemTech Industry will grow from $51 billion in 2023 to close to $267 billion in 2035.

Although funding for this industry continues to rise, it still appears that women’s healthcare remains under-served.

Women often do not have accurate, trustworthy, or expert sources of health information in order to better understand their own body, thus creating an opportunity for developers to build a trusted platform for women with credible and scientifically-supported evidence.

Marjan Faraidooni, Chief of Education and Culture at Expo City Dubai, highlighted the need to fill these gaps to empower women. She said, “With the FemTech Hub, we hope to provide a platform where women’s health can be openly talked about, thoroughly researched, and significantly improved, with a positive impact on society.”

The partnership approach combines the expertise of different areas of women’s health, including the Meem Foundation, which promotes innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to address gender inequality; American Hospital Dubai, which brings clinical expertise and evidence-based results; and PeriCare, a FemTech innovation studio that specializes in product development and mother-centric care.

Muna Eisa Al Gurg, Founder of Meem Foundation, conveyed the organization’s view that women’s health should be a priority for long-term positive change in society.

She said, “This project will make sure that women have access to safe primary care and are better informed about their health, not a privilege but a norm.”

Sherif Beshara, CEO of American Hospital Dubai, emphasized the need to disrupt women’s health innovation by understanding women’s voices. He said, “This hub is all about changing the status quo and making sure that women’s health innovation stays in the region forever.”
