DO Take Action, a purpose-driven non-profit start-up, is set to host its inaugural Women Conference 2025 in Abuja on May 13th. In alliance with World Bank, the organization advances its goal of empowering a billion changemakers across the continent. Recognizing the need for equitable market access, the organization is calling for corporate and government procurement frameworks to dedicate at least 30% of contracts to women-led businesses.
Championing structural reform for women entrepreneurs, the event, under the theme ‘Scaling Up Impact’ will drive dialogue and support for a 30% affirmative procurement commitment across Nigeria’s economic landscape. This procurement target highlights the need for inclusive policy reforms and dedicated procurement pathways for women.
As reported by Tribune Online, the conferences agenda includes keynote presentations, expert panels, curated networking opportunities, and exhibitions spotlighting pioneering women-owned businesses. The conference is set to host over 700 participants. Attendees including women entrepreneurs, procurement experts, development partners, and civil society leaders, will explore policy frameworks and partnership strategies.
“The event is open to women business owners, government agencies, donor organizations, civil society groups and media partners. We expect a dynamic gathering of over 700 participants, including senior government officials, donor agencies, women entrepreneurs, private sector actors and the media. The day will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chats, success stories, and a showcase of women-led enterprises,” Co-Founder of DO Take Action, Precious Ebere Chinonso-Obi told Tribune Online. The upcoming event is intended to drive momentum for Gender-Responsive Procurement (GRP) and expand market opportunities for Women-Owned and Led Businesses across the country.
Following the positive outcomes of the Scaling Women Economic Empowerment through Procurement (SWEEP) program, this event will act as a catalyst for reviewing achievements, exchanging best practices, and formulating concrete future steps.
