Ann Pow has made history as officially becoming the first Malaysian lady to successfully complete Ultraman Australia 2026, adding another feather to her already prestigious cap as Malaysia’s premier female endurance athlete.
Her exceptional achievement has been acknowledged by the Malaysia Book of Records, making it an important day for Malaysian sports as well as endurance sports in general. The final results for the competition were recorded as 30:43:24 for Ann.
Ultraman Australia is one of the most rigorous tests of endurance and athleticism in the world. It requires athletes to cover a distance exceeding 500 kilometres within three days, using three modes of transportation. The participants are expected to swim for 10km, cycle for 421.1km, and run for 84.3km. This competition is a race that pushes human limits to new dimensions and calls for tremendous dedication, determination, and toughness among all those who participate.
Due to her track record of improved performances in top endurance races, Ann has cemented her position as one of the best endurance athletes from the female category in Malaysia.
After registering her country’s quickest time ever for a woman triathlete in an Ironman Langkawi race held in 2022, Ann managed to set yet another new personal best at the Ironman Malaysia race in 2024.

The Ironman Malaysia is an example of a benchmark event for elite endurance athletes as it entails a one-day triathlon involving three disciplines including swimming 3.8 km in the open water, cycling for 180km and running 42.2 km. The Ironman Malaysia is usually held annually in Langkawi and renowned for the extreme weather conditions involved, hence making athletes tough enough to complete it successfully.
Ann has exemplified Malaysia’s rise to prominence in the field of endurance sports, by participating in some of the most important races in the world representing Malaysia on a global stage. Most recently, she raced in the 2023 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, after her performance in the duathlon event in the 2022 Southeast Asian Games.
Apart from being a milestone in the history of sport, Ann’s success is about much more than that; it is an empowering story about possibility. Not only does her feat create a new standard to aspire to, but by being the first female Malaysian to accomplish such an incredible feat. Ann inspires other young women to aim higher and bigger, break barriers with grit and resilience.
The first-hand experience of her breaking record was relayed by Ann through a video posted by Arena Malaysia, a prominent independent digital media platform and sports storytelling network in Malaysia. In her 30 years of age, she explained the tough challenges that came along during the three days of Ultraman race. These included the physical and mental requirements for finishing the race, and the overwhelming satisfaction she felt from completing it.
