Business Women's Hub Africa emphasised during the 2026 Annual Conference in Lagos the requirement for better support systems, increased funding opportunities for women-led enterprises, and strengthening networks for those women in business.
The conference was held under the theme of "Balance to Scale: Empowered Women and Its Effect" and included discussions on how governments and businesses can support the development of female entrepreneurs through the exchange of resources, information and expertise to create sustainable businesses amidst the changing economic climate. The conference coincided with the 2012 global focus "Give To Gain" during IWD.
In the opening address read by Damilola Sonayon James (Special Guest of Honour), the Assistant Women Leader of the APC in Lagos state, the importance of women being involved in economic growth was discussed, and she found that creating more business opportunities for women would have a significant impact on productivity levels in all sectors.
The Keynote Speaker, Yetunde Bankole-Bernard, Managing Director – Finchglow delivered a talk which contained insights related to specialisation, delegation and confidence as being critical drivers for business growth.
She stated the need for entrepreneurs to create systems to enable scaling while maintaining their strategic focus. Adedoja Allen, MD City 105.1 FM provided her own perspectives based on her experience.
Other sessions at the conference were held by various speakers like Mercy Agbeti, Nnenna Jacob-Ogogo, Precious Adesina-Ola, Zusi Inegbeniki, Dr Ella Ezeadilieje, Linda Ochugbua, Oyindamola Fawehinmi, Moyosoreoluwa Eleso, Ayanime Edem, Abiola Adelana, and Mobolaji Ajayi.
These sessions were mainly centred on leadership, business visibility, creating wealth, and sustainability. The presentations were all interactive engagements that sought to give insight to participants.
Balance as a core element of development was one major theme that came out of the discussions. The speakers agreed that sustainable success requires deliberate planning, priorities, and action and not simply being busy.
In addition to the presentations and discussions, there was the grant of 20 media slots by the Business Women Hub through Women FM 91.6 and City FM 105.1 to participants to improve their visibility and access to markets.
According to the organisers, the conference is another step towards balancing advocacy and practicality by equipping women entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, funds, and network required for creating sustainable businesses. It should be noted that growing sustainable women-led enterprises continues to be an important element in ensuring economic inclusiveness in Nigeria.
