Elected member of parliament in Egypt Amira Saber was recently re-elected as the representative of the Middle East and North Africa region to the World Bank’s Young Parliamentarians Advisory Committee, signaling an expansion of Egypt’s presence in global development fora.
The move demonstrates another round of affirmation for Saber’s involvement in the Global Young MPs Initiative, which is sponsored by the World Bank and provides a forum for young legislators under the age of 45 to discuss development issues.
Simultaneously, Saber has been chosen to be the chairperson of the first Youth Parliamentarian Network associated with the International Monetary Fund, representing an unprecedented milestone in the extent of her involvement with international financial organizations and underscoring the increasing recognition of her stature among international economic and developmental experts.
Counselor Amal Ammar, who is the president of the National Council for Women, congratulated Saber on her re-election as well as her new role, stating that such a feat is indicative of the confidence the international community places in young Egyptians. Ammar acknowledged Saber’s increasing clout in matters pertaining to economics and development, mentioning that she serves as a role model for young Egyptian women within the fields of politics and youth-related endeavors.
The visibility of Saber as a politician has been established due to her involvement in international political forums discussing topics related to sustainable development, climate change policies, and economic stability.
The re-election of Saber is an indication that Egypt is involved in international parliamentary diplomacy with the aim of positioning its youth in key international organizations.
