Capital Elle Award 2026 Offers $100k to Women Entrepreneurs

Canadian women entrepreneurs are joining forces to tackle barriers that have historically limited women-owned businesses from scaling, with the launch of the Capital Elle Business Impact Award 2026. The founder-backed initiative will offer a $100,000 prize package combining cash and business growth opportunities.

Launched by The Elleiance Network, founded and led by Erin Sisko, the award aims to address what organisers describe as an “access gap” rather than a knowledge gap among women entrepreneurs. The initiative is designed to provide access to strategic relationships, growth capital and acquisition opportunities, helping founders build more valuable and sustainable businesses.

Applications will open on 2 September 2026 and close on 28 October 2026. Finalists are expected to be announced on 10 November, with winners set to be revealed on 2 December 2026.

The award is open to Canadian women entrepreneurs across industries who are focused on building sustainable and profitable businesses with long-term impact. Applicants must operate a majority women-owned business, be led by a Canadian legal resident aged 18 or above, and have been in operation for at least two years. Businesses must also have annual revenue of at least $100,000 or be on track to reach that level.

A defining feature of this year's programme is its founder-backed funding model. Rather than relying on a corporation, government programme or venture capital firm, the award has been collectively funded by 40 Canadian women-owned businesses. The organisers see this as an example of women entrepreneurs directly investing in opportunities for other women founders.

Sisko established The Elleiance Network following a decade in commercial banking, where she observed significant disparities in access to capital. The organisation subsequently developed a community-led approach focused on helping Canadian women entrepreneurs gain greater access to resources and opportunities.

The Capital Elle award has expanded considerably since its launch. In 2024, nine women-led businesses contributed towards a $20,000 prize package, attracting 269 applications. In 2025, support grew to 33 partner organisations and the prize pool increased to $50,000, drawing 710 applicants.

For 2026, the award has doubled its prize pool to $100,000, while its funding base has grown to 40 women-owned businesses. The programme specifically focuses on three areas: strategic connections and deal flow, equitable access to capital, and visibility into acquisition and expansion opportunities.

Unlike awards primarily designed to recognise previous achievements, the Capital Elle Business Impact Award is positioned as an investment in future growth potential. The prizes are non-repayable and non-dilutive, allowing recipients to retain ownership of their businesses while gaining resources intended to support their next stage of growth.

The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on community-backed funding for women entrepreneurs, with its organisers aiming to demonstrate how collective action can create new pathways for women-owned businesses to scale and build long-term wealth.
