The new Women in Tech Fiji chapter will make international centre stage for the very first time at the Women in Tech Global Summit in Osaka, Japan this month. Sagufta Janif, Country Director Women in Tech Fiji referred to the summit as an excellent platform to bring focus to the organization's mission, success stories, and stories to the remaining global tech community.
Following its official launch in Suva on Monday, Women in Tech Fiji was formally inducted into Women in Tech Global, the global network that leads the way in closing the gender gap in technology. The global network has a presence in 54 countries on six continents and has more than 250,000 members.
"This is Fiji's time to shine, and we are proud to showcase Fijian women in technology at the international level," Ms. Sagufta said. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, MSMEs and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, promised that the launch is a turning point for Fiji.
He added that it puts the country even further up the pedestal of a leader in inclusive innovation, to global standards, and opportunities become available for new partnerships and funding. The government, he continued, wishes to make sure that gender mainstreaming is included in all regional and international frameworks.
The following Women in Tech Global Summit 2025, April 23 to 25, will have 500 delegates from 60 delegations and feature 80 speakers. The summit will feature key government, industry, and civil society stakeholders to share on the current status of women in technology.
This year's event will celebrate women's accomplishments in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), and explore the transformational potential of new technologies such as AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, and sustainable tech—with a focus on creating inclusive solutions for a more sustainable world.
