  • The WEC will receive funding and support to link local women-owned businesses around the world

The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah is now lining up the Women Entrepreneurs Committee (WEC) as one of the key driving forces for business growth and development.

The committee will be fully represented, funded, and supported to link women-owned businesses in the region to the global market.

MCCC Sabah President Datuk Dexter Lau emphasized the commitment of the chamber to fairness, impartiality, and non-politicization.

He said that the governance structure includes the WEC as a full voting member of the council, which ensures that women’s perspectives influence all strategic decisions, from program development to partnership-building. The goal is to create an inclusive business environment in Sabah.

Lau noted that the chamber has developed a mechanism to engage the WEC in all activities such as training sessions, networking, and leadership roles.

The initiative is not only geared towards supporting existing members but also towards developing capacity to prepare women entrepreneurs for leadership roles.

He pointed out that the selection of leaders would take into consideration both engagement and potential, ensuring that successful business owners who are focused on growing their businesses are given opportunities to contribute at the highest levels.

In an effort to promote local women entrepreneurs, Lau revealed that the council has set aside about RM300, 000 for the upcoming annual flagship event.

The event will highlight the creativity, dynamism, and competitiveness of women-owned businesses in Sabah to connect them with the international market.

MCCC Sabah is also involved in training WEC members on media engagement and strategic communication to improve their public image and that of their businesses.
