Sports representation firm Wasserman has acquired the women’s football agency Unik Sports Management, concluding a process which had been on the agenda for the past few months, as Mundo Deportivo highlights.
The multi-million euro deal has been announced by Richard Motzkin, Executive Vice President & Managing Director, Global Soccer, Wasserman.
The deal involves the hiring of Carlota Planas, founder & CEO, Unik Sports Management, who will become the VP, Global Women's Football, Wasserman, as part of the deal.
Richard pointed out that Carlota has established Unik as a prominent women’s football agency, and it seems that it fits with the ethics and long-term plans that Wasserman has in the female football sector.
Created in Barcelona in 2020, Unik Sports Management represents female footballers in their contracts and in the development of their commercial and marketing areas.
These players are Claudia Pina, Mariona Caldentey, Cata Coll, Lola Gallardo, Estefanía Banini, Martina Fernández, Cristina Martín-Prieto, and Aylín Aviléz.
These players will add to the women’s football list of clients that Wasserman already represents, including Tierna Davidson, Emily Fox, Naomi Girma, Lindsey Horan, Casey Krueger, Alex Morgan, Olivia Moultrie, Jenna Nighswonger, Alessia Russo, Jaedyn Shaw, Sophia Smith, and Mallory Swanson.
This deal reinforces Wasserman's women's football offering globally and follows the 2024 purchase of the UK sports agency Volante Sports and the hire of its director, Russo.
Apart from talent agencies, Wasserman also runs The Collective, a strategic advisory division that aims at enhancing the presence of women in sports, music, and entertainment through various researches and campaigns.
Essentially, Wasserman is a talent representation agency which has been involved with sports talent, entertainment talent, and musical talent.
