The women’s health space is shifting towards a holistic approach and is characterized by recent trends in the form of modular and ‘stackable’ supplement forms, and the advent of probiotics in the form of ingredients in the creation of mood-supporting supplements.

The idea of discussing menopause, perimenopause, and hormonal health is becoming more commonplace in conversations; hence, AI-aided search support and social media have started influencing the expectations of women in terms of the efficacy of ingredients.

Nutrition Insight interviewed representatives from Lallemand Bio-Ingredients, Novonesis, ADM, TriNutra, Saanroo, and GC Rieber VivoMega to talk about the current market trends and product innovation pertinent to menopause relief, mood balance, and metabolism.

Dr. Marcia da Silva Pinto, a category manager at Lallemand Bio-Ingredients, mentioned in her article that because more women are discussing the topic of women's health issues and because of the internet and the use of AI, the way in which women are making health decisions is significantly changing.

Dr. Marcia also mentioned that the consumers are more focused on the science and less likely to accept vague claims.

She also mentioned how market research points towards a shift in consumer expectations, with many consumers looking for products supported with clinical evidence and open communication of efficacy.

The ease of use and convenience of the product, including products that easily integrate with daily lifestyles, also continues to grow in popularity.

From a demographic perspective, the postmenopausal woman continues to be a key growth segment, with the interest from premenopausal women with hormonal imbalances providing another area of opportunity for marketers.

She also noted further that North America and Asia are among the most dynamic markets, characterized by innovative delivery formats and science-based ingredients.

The main demand for ingredients centers on products addressing menopause relief, skin health, metabolic equilibrium, and mood improvement.

Though vaginal health continues to be well established, there were signs of growing interest in categories such as mood, sleep, fertility, metabolic wellness, and menopause support.
