The Sabah Women Advisory Council (MPWS) has a definitive objective of serving as a government think tank to create policies and strategies that will sustain and develop all forms of women’s empowerment in the state.

Chairperson Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki expressed that MPWS continues to be dedicated to having an ongoing positive impact through any initiatives that are created for women’s development in Sabah.

She made this remark while responding to questions following a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu recently.

The purpose of the visit was to share the accomplishments of MPWS and the strategic direction of the council in empowering women in the state.

Accompanying the Chairperson on the visit were Deputy Chairperson Datuk Fauziah Abu Bakar Titingan and Haslina Ismail, Sabah Director JHEWA.

The council also shared information regarding the Global Women Leaders program which focuses on education, economy and leadership.

According to Rosmawati, MPWS executed an evaluation program in 2025 to determine current levels of women's leadership in all three areas.

Rosmawati also indicated there were 75 participants selected to participate in an intensive follow-up program.

Also mentioned in his remarks, Rosmawati said that the Women's Forum is working to help improve the level of education, increase the number of women-owned businesses, and improve women's leadership potential at the international level.

MPWS also formally invited the Chief Minister to be the Official Guest at their upcoming State level Women's Day Celebration (4 September 2026). Additionally, they will host a Women Leaders Symposium in September, which will serve as a networking and leadership development opportunity for women.

Rosmawati thanked JHEWA for coordinating the courtesy visit and affirmed that MPWS will continue to work with the State of Sabah to support the Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda.
